PUBLIC FISHING EVENTS

During Arizona Game and Fish Department free fishing clinics, loaner rods are provided, bait is free, and no license is required to those who register during event hours.

CENTRAL REGION (Phoenix area)

Free fishing clinics, loaner rods are provided, bait is free, and no license is required to those who register during event hours.

Saturday, Feb. 25 — Just For Kids Fishing Festival, 8 a.m. – noon, Kiwanis Park (5500 S. Mill Ave., Tempe).

Saturday, April 8 — Youth Fishing Day, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., Bonsall Pond (5840 W. Bethany Home Rd., Glendale). The AZGFD and city of Glendale will give out up to 1,000 free youth license on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Saturday, May 20 — Family Fishing Event, Tempe Kiwanis Park (5500 S. Mill Ave., Tempe). The Arizona Game and Fish Department will be providing families with some fishing fun, in conjunction with the Angelman Syndrome Foundation Walk 2017. The Walk will be going on for most of the day at Kiwanis Park, but for a few hours in the morning, families can come enjoy some free fishing.

 

NORTHWEST REGION (Havasu City, Kingman, Prescott)

Free fishing clinics, loaner rods are provided, bait is free, and no license is required to those who register during event hours.

Saturday, June 3 — Free Fishing Day, Goldwater Lake (2900 S. Goldwater Lake Rd. Prescott), 9-1 p.m. As part of the National Free Fishing Day, the Arizona Game and Fish Department is planning a day of free fishing for the whole family. For more information, please call the AZGFD Kingman Office at 928-692-7700 or the Sport Fishing Education Program at (623) 236-7240.

 

SOUTH REGION (Tucson area)

Free fishing clinics, loaner rods are provided, bait is free, and no license is required to those who register during event hours.

Saturday, March 11 — Family and Community Fishing Event, 8 a.m. – noon, Roper Lake State Park (101 E. Roper Lake Rd., Safford). For more information please contact Kelly Wright at Roper Lake State Park at (928) 428-6760 or the Sport Fishing Education Program at (623) 236-7240.

Saturday, April 22 — Fishing for Sustainability-Family and Community Fishing Event, 8 a.m – noon, Silverbell Lake at Christopher Columbus Park (3600 N. Silverbell Rd., Tucson). Staff from the Sport Fishing Education Program, Tucson office and volunteer instructors will be on hand to provide tips on fishing and answer your angling questions. More information on the new additions to the event will be available in early April, so be sure to check back!

 

NORTH-CENTRAL REGION (Williams, Flagstaff)
