Arizona fishing report: The Reel Deal

Great news for Arizona anglers: The Fishing Forecast page on is live and  includes reports for primary water bodies statewide. This spring forecast will be followed by updated forecasts for each season of the year.

Bookmark this page that’s on the “Fishing” section of our website.

Based on angler feedback, we have separated what’s new (this fishing information will be in the blog, newsletter and social media), from fishing reports that tend to stay the same throughout a season.  This fishing forecast means anglers will always have some good “intel” on our most popular fishing waters. These reports come straight from our experts who work in the region where they report.

While we’ll continue to blog and create the e-mailed fishing report newsletter, this forecast will replace the “Full Fishing Report” post that included the same statewide waters.

Also, we plan to soon release a new-and-much improved Fish and Boat Arizona map.

This is all to give you the best experience on the water for your license dollars. So thank you.

For even more up-to-date information, we also suggest calling/visiting a local bait-and-tackle shop, fishing marina or guide service.

Help us keep these reports fresh for your fellow anglers by sending your reports and photos to BFishing – one will be selected for Catch of the Week.

I’ll be out of the office next week, so there will not be The Reel Deal update or weekly newsletter that week.

Community fishing catfish coming

There is only one stocking of winter trout left (next week) in the Community Fishing Program waters in the Tucson and Phoenix areas. That means catfish stockings are just around the corner. Catfish stockings are scheduled to begin the week of March 19-24. See the latest Community fishing news.

Veterans Oasis Park (Chandler)

Eric R.: On March 6, John R. caught two, 12 inch, rainbow trout at sundown while fishing at Veteran’s Oasis Park in Chandler.  He had a monster third fish on the line (he says it was a shark) but it got away.  He hooked them using Power Eggs with garlic scent using a No. 10 hook.
