Weekend roundup: Angler Reports

Send your fishing reports and pictures to BFishing@AZGFD.gov.

Here’s the latest from your fellow anglers:

Woods Canyon Lake

Mike S.: 4 year old Dallon S. caught his first tiger trout (above/below) on a lure at Woods Canyon Lake this past weekend.

We caught the one tiger trout on a Rebel maroon crawdad crankbait — it took the bait right after the lure hit the water and Dallon started reeling it in.

He also caught two rainbow trout on worms,. One was on the troll the other was still fishing in the same spot he caught the tiger.  We saw multiple people catching fish at Woods Canyon Lake from the boat and shore (even the bald eagles caught some fish early in the morning).

We talked to some anglers, and can confirm that the lake is down about 2 feet.

Thank you AZGFD for letting kids like Dallon have good fishing experiences with all the stockings and other things you guys do!

Canyon Lake

John S.: Here is a picture of a nice bass taken at Canyon Lake by Tempe resident John Slater around 5 p.m. Oct. 23 — caught on plastic worm dropshot.

This bass put up a great fight – really strong.  I released it so someone else can catch it again!

Bear Canyon Lake

Damien B.: Rainbows hitting hard today (Saturday, Oct. 29) using PowerBait and Earthcrawlers. Thanks for everything you guys do! It was good eating!

Lake Pleasant

Bruce B.: Striper caught Oct. 28.

Jim N.: 25-pound flathead catfish.
