Arizona Fishing Report: The Reel Deal

Top picks to fish this week are the trout-stocked Community Fishing Program waters, Lake Pleasant for flathead catfish, Bartlett Lake for high numbers of largemouth bass, and Alamo Lake (or even Roosevelt Lake) for decent crappie action.
In general, high country trout options are limited. In the Flagstaff/Williams region, everything is pretty much frozen over. We consider all ice unsafe. Consider heading elsewhere, such as Green Valley Lakes in Payson, which is stocked every other week during the winter months.

Be sure to check the ADOT website for road conditions before traveling this weekend.

All of our core community lakes have been stocked this week: see the stocking schedule, as well as the latest community fishing news.

Heading into the winter doldrums, the metabolism of fish such as largemouth bass slows. These can be difficult months to fish. For bass, try something such as a Carolina rig with a long leader and work a plastic worm slowly.

And before fishing this weekend, see our Fish&Boat AZ map for exact locations.

Finally, by purchasing your license online annually, you also are conserving wildlife for the future and leading wildlife conservation efforts. Thanks for your passion for wildlife.
